Learning to Create in the 3rd Dimension.

Creating Hiyoko Story was my first game development experience. It was a project that was developed in Unreal Engine 5, with assets created in Blender. It was a project that I used as a vehicle for my artistic development that helped me grow as an artist, but it had to ultimately be cancelled.

A Lived-In, World of Adventure Awaits!

From the beginning, the premise of Hiyoko Story was to create a life-sim game intertwined with exploration and story.

I’ve yet to play a game that isn’t combat oriented, that offers the player a lived-in world that they can freely explore and interact with. The life-sim genre just hasn’t been experimented with enough, I feel.

I was looking to make a game that asked the player to explore a vast world filled with mystery, whilst also making them feel a sense of belonging as they settled into a town of cute animal characters. Think of an Animal Crossing game crossed with the DNA of the Legend of Zelda.

Sadly, this game became to big a project for me to move forward with, however, the ideas have stuck with me. I take everything I learnt from this project with me.

I hope that maybe one day… I can do this idea justice!
